Admission Requirements & Disclaimers
The Sport Medicine Council of Alberta (SMCA) believes in education and learning opportunities for everyone. The SMCA courses are made to work for participants regardless of level of experience. The minimum age restriction to attend a SMCA course is 16 years of age. Participants under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent. We enforce these restrictions to protect the safety and security of minors and ask for your understanding and cooperation. Athletic Injury Management Course: There are no prerequisites to take this course.
Sport Taping & Strapping Course: The Athletic Injury Management Course is a prerequisite. We have this course as a prerequisite because it gives you the theoretical and foundational knowledge behind taping & strapping. However, if you have prior knowledge in this area and feel confident that you wouldn't need to take the Athletic Injury Management Course to succeed in the taping & strapping portion then we will waive the prerequisite requirement.
Sport Trainer Course: This course is the combination of the Athletic Injury Management Course and the Sport Taping & Strapping Course taken over one weekend. You meet all prerequisites by taking this course over the weekend.
Sport & Mental Health Course: There are no prerequisites to take this course.
Sport Nutrition Level 1 Course: There are no prerequisites to take this course.
