Stephane Simard, MSc. University of Lethbridge, Current SSAA President

Stephane Simard earned a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Calgary (1997) investigating stimulus parameters of the hormone erythropoietin and the use of normobaric hypoxemic training in athletes. Prior to graduate studies, he completed his undergraduate degree (B.Sc., 1992) at Concordia University in Exercise Science with a specialization in Athletic Therapy.

Since 1998 he has been an instructor in the department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at the University of Lethbridge. He has taught in the areas of Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Anatomy, Motor Control and Learning, Research Methodologies, and Cardiovascular and Strength Training. Currently, his main focus lies in the area of strength and conditioning and the implementation of sound training practices to achieve athletic or general fitness goals.

Tish Doyle-Baker, Ph.D., University of Calgary  SSAA Representative

Dr. Doyle-Baker's training is from Loma Linda University and Medical Centre and includes preventative medicine and epidemiology. Her graduate work at the master's level is in exercise physiology. These three fields of study (preventative medicine, epidemiology, and exercise physiology) come together in her role as a clinical exercise physiologist, hence, her work centers on the clinical health aspects of primary medicine with the integration of exercise physiology and fitness outcomes, particularly in women and children.

Gordon J. Bell, Ph.D. University of Alberta, SSAA Representative

Gordon Bell is a Professor in the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada where he has taught since 1989. He completed his undergraduate degrees at the University of Saskatchewan (B.Ed., 1980; B.Sc.P.E., 1984), his Masters degree at the University of Victoria (1986) and his Ph.D. at the University of Alberta (1989). Dr. Bell has conducted applied sport science and exercise physiology research, consulted with amateur and professional athletes, and taught undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise physiology over the past 20 years.
